This article describes who users can expect to be the home and away team for College Men's Basketball Tournament games.

Structured Tournament Games

The men's finals tournament in March, always played at neutral sites. The home and away teams are determined by who has the higher/lower seeds.

For example, if the 1 seed is playing the 16 seed then the 1 seed will be listed as the home team and the 16 seed will be listed as the away team.

Unstructured Tournament or Regular Season Games

Some schools will play tournaments mid-season at neutral venues; in rare cases they will even play a normal regular-season game at a neutral site. In such cases, when we first create the game, we try to match official sources and consensus in determining which team is considered at 'home'.

In some cases there is disagreement over this, or no 'home' team is confirmed until long after the game has been announced. In such cases, as a rule, we do not change the order of teams, as this would create additional disruption for clients.
